Easy Frozen Peanut Butter Pie
This 20-minute frozen peanut butter pie is the perfect no-bake dessert. it’s rich, creamy, and insanely easy to make.

There’s something nostalgic about a frozen peanut butter pie. It reminds me of summer nights when it’s too hot to bake, but you want a good dessert! And THIS one? It’s a grown-up glow-up of a classic.
This frozen pie comes together with softened cream cheese, real peanut butter, a splash of vanilla paste, and Cool Whip for that light, mousse-like texture. I add a little peanut butter powder to really amp up the flavor, and if you’re into toppings, go wild: chocolate drizzle, caramel sauce, crushed peanuts, maybe even pretzels.
The best part? You mix it, freeze it, and forget it until dessert time. It slices beautifully and holds its shape, making it perfect for parties, cookouts, or just a personal celebration. No judgment. You can watch the video here!
What Is A Frozen Pie?
A frozen pie is a no-bake dessert made with a creamy filling, often featuring ingredients like cream cheese, whipped topping, peanut butter, or pudding, poured into a pre-made or homemade crust and then frozen until firm. Unlike ice cream, frozen pies don’t melt into a puddle when thawed; instead, they soften slightly while still holding their shape. Similar to an icebox cake, but typically without layered components, frozen pies are the perfect make-ahead dessert. They require minimal equipment, no oven time, and are ideal for keeping your kitchen cool during the summer months.
Can you Make Frozen Peanut Butter Pie Ahead Of Time?
Yes! This frozen version actually needs at least 4 hours to set in the freezer, so it’s a great make-ahead dessert. Just keep it covered until you’re ready to serve. You can also make this up to 2 weeks in advance if you keep it covered airtight to prevent freezer burn or “freezer taste.” You know what I’m talking about!

TIPS FOR MAKING FROZEN PEANUT BUTTER PIE
Use softened cream cheese
Let it sit at room temp before mixing. This ensures a smooth, lump-free filling without overmixing.
Don’t skip the peanut butter powder
It enhances the peanut flavor without adding extra fat or sweetness.
Fold, don’t beat the Cool Whip
Over-mixing whipped topping can deflate it. Gently fold it in for a fluffy, mousse-like pie.
Freeze until fully set
Give it at least 4 hours (or overnight) to firm up completely. That way, it slices neatly and holds its shape.
Add toppings just before serving
If using chocolate or caramel sauce, drizzle after the pie is frozen for best presentation and texture.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Can I use a homemade crust instead of store-bought?
Answer: Absolutely. A graham cracker, pretzel, or Oreo cookie crust works great—just make sure it’s fully cooled and set before adding the filling.
Can I make this dairy-free?
Answer: Yes! Use a dairy-free whipped topping, plant-based cream cheese, and dairy-free whipped cream, almond or oat milk instead of half & half.
How long does frozen peanut butter pie last in the freezer?
Answer: It’s best within a week, but it’ll last up to 2 weeks if tightly covered.
Can I add chocolate to the filling?
Answer: Yes! You can swirl in melted chocolate or mix in mini chocolate chips for extra richness.
Do I need to thaw the pie before serving?
Answer: Let it sit at room temperature for 10–15 minutes before slicing for the best texture.
