Hey ya’ll!! I am popping in to let ya’ll know that I’ve refreshed the refresh! What do I mean? Well, the guest room that I updated back in August with a beautiful makeover has been doubling as my office since I started a new job in the panorama. As we’re not having guests anyway, it was a perfect space to takeover without much effort. In the update, I got a new chair, mounted a mirror to the wall and converted an unused table into a vanity/desk, so adding my new work equipment fit that space perfectly. What I didn’t do, however, was get a light for that side of the room, which made for a really depressing zoom screen during these winter months when the light is gone by 3P.

When I realized I was in need of light, I ordered the first affordable light I found that could get to me in a day. The issue with this is that the light was very yellow and also made for outdoors. So instead of looking bright an happy on zoom, I looked faded and a bit dull. Not exactly what I was going for. It also did not fit the style of the room at all and really brought the atmosphere down. I had a more mid-century modern style with the elements I chose previously and a global traveler feel over all. This was not it, and I needed to change that. So, I turned to one of my favorite sites, AllModern once again to update my lighting to match the other light I got during the refresh. There were quite a few lamps, but I wanted something that fit in with the style and color theme of the room. Finally, I was able to lock down this amazing floor lamp that not only captured the coloring of the table lamp, but also the style of the decor in the entire room.

One of my favorite features about this lamp is that it is adjustable. I can swing both the arm and the shade of the lamp to get light exactly where I want it. At night, when I’m relaxing, I can position the light to softly fill the room without having a spotlight on anything in particular. However, when it’s mid afternoon and I am on a video call, I am able to swing the shade and arm to light me directly and give a clearer picture to my audience. And the hardware to do so is SO beautiful. I mean, look at it. The details really bring character and style to the lamp and make it both gorgeous and functional. The other thing I love are the matte back touches in the shade and base. They add a sophistication to the lamp that make it feel expensive, classic and timeless. I also personally love matte finishes on accent pieces that gives it a feel of luxury. The last thing I want to point out with this lamp is the shape. It reminds me of a nautical telescope which complements the the room’s global traveler vibe.
